Dermaplaning is an exfoliative procedure that safely and gently shaves the outermost layer of skin (epidermis) and rids the skin of the fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). This procedure is a great alternative for people who cannot receive microdermabrasion or chemical peels. Dermaplaning is most often used on clients with rough dry skin, superficial hyperpigmentation, mild acne scarring and fine lines and wrinkles.
Dermaplaning is a quick procedure with few to no adverse effects. Using a special scalpel and a very delicate touch, the medical esthetician employs light feathering strokes to abrade the surface of the skin while eliminating the fine hair. After the your session, other appropriate treatments can be added such as a chemical peels if you are not pregnant or a masque specifically tailored to address your skin concern. Many patients are often concerned that fine facial hair will grow back heavier and darker after dermaplaning. This is not true and is merely an old wives tale! The hair will grow back at the same rate and texture as before the treatment.
At Paragon Med Spa, a thorough consultation will be performed before any treatment, and options for treatment will be discussed. Rest assured that dermaplaning is safe, quick and effective in treating a wide range of concerns. Try dermaplaning soon!
